Body-informed therapy
You may understand your patterns and still feel caught in them. Anxiety, self-doubt, disconnection, or old survival responses keep showing up in your body, relationships, and choices.
I help people work with both the mind and body to heal from difficult experiences, navigate major life transitions, and create change they can feel and use.
I offer in-person therapy in St. Paul and virtual therapy for clients throughout Minnesota.
When understanding isn’t creating change
You may be thoughtful, self-aware, and able to explain exactly why you respond the way you do. But understanding a pattern does not always stop it from happening.
You might find yourself:
Overthinking conversations, decisions, or what might go wrong
Feeling tense, restless, shut down, or disconnected from your body
Reacting strongly even when part of you knows you are safe
Repeating relationship patterns you genuinely want to change
Carrying the effects of painful experiences from the past
Moving through grief, illness, burnout, or a major life transition
Feeling unsure of who you are or what comes next
Knowing what would help but struggling to put it into practice
These responses are not signs that you are broken or failing. They often developed for understandable reasons. Therapy can help you understand those reasons while also creating new ways of responding.
How we create change
My approach is collaborative, body-aware, and paced with care. We begin by noticing the pattern that keeps repeating - including the thoughts, emotions, body responses, and protective strategies involved.
Then we slow the pattern down and make sense of its different layers. Instead of feeling completely taken over by a reaction, you can begin to recognize, “a part of me feels this way” or “my body learned to respond this way for a reason.”
From there, we practice what you can do differently when the pattern appears. This may include noticing the reaction sooner, helping your nervous system settle, responding to yourself with greater compassion, and choosing an action that supports the person you want to be.
Over time, you develop inner fluency - the ability to understand what is happening inside you and respond with more awareness, compassion, and choice.
